The Fitness category of British Gas Swimfit is designed for those who aim to use swimming as the primary source of a keep fit programme.
In fact you are probably interested in improving your fitness level rather than just maintaining the status quo. Your aim will be to improve your physical appearance and to ensure that your heart and lungs remain in tip top condition.
To help acheive your goals you will probably aim to swim a minimum of 3 times per week and to include some high intensity activity. You will probably be comfortable swimming two or three of the four strokes.
If you find that you have really got into your swimming and would like to consider competing, or you are already a competitive swimmer but cannot always make club sessions, you may want to take a look at the Competitive Sessions.
Swimming is one of the simplest, easiest and most enjoyable ways to improve and maintain your fitness. Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness.
