Competitive

The competitive category of British Gas Swimfit is designed for those with aspirations to complete or who are already competing but need additional sessions to supplement what you probably already do in a club situation.  

The aim is to improve personal performance as measured by the time taken to cover a range of distances.

Competitive swimming is great fun and you get to meet lots of new people at swimming meets. However, the training can be quite hard as those of you returning to the sport will remember.  For those of you who have worked your way through the different swimfit.com levels and are now ready to take on this challenge, very well done to you!

Building It Up

The programmes are progressive even at this level, you will notice that not only does the intensity increase, but so do the distances. You will need to ensure that you have enough time to complete the session without it feeling rushed or having to miss out parts to finish in the set time.

Basics

It is important that you remember all of the basics as this will help keep you on track for achieving your goals. Simple things like streamlining off the walls fly leg kicking out of your turns and making the most of the turns on every length will improve your times and keep you technically strong.
